Dr. Hong Chen is an Research Associate Professor in the College of Polymer Science and Engineering at Sichuan University. She received a B.S degree from Polymer Engineering of Sichuan University in 2012 and M.S. degree from Materials Science of University of California, Los Angeles in 2013, and a Ph.D from Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of the University of Akron.
Following her graduation, Dr. Chen embarked on a career in exploring the application of biopolymer materials in the field of gene sequencing. She joined ReadCoor, a U.S.-based company, in 2017, where she held positions as Scientist and Senior Scientist. In 2020, she joined 10x Genomics, another U.S.-based company, as a Senior Scientist. In September 2022, she officially became a part of Professor Jianshu Li's research group in the Department of Medical Polymer Materials at the College of Polymer Science and Engineering, Sichuan University.
Dr. Chen has authored a total of 41 SCI papers, with an H-index of 32 and over 4500 citations. As the first author, co-first author, or corresponding author, she has published 10 articles in high-impact journals like Advanced Materials and Advanced Functional Materials. Several of her papers have been featured on journal covers, and her work has been recognized as the hottest articles of the year.
Her primary research areas include anti-fouling surfaces, high-strength hydrogels, hydrogel sensors, hydrogel coatings, and more.
